i like making rules for myself and others
i’ve never labeled myself a feminist, i just think, um, i can do whatever i want and no one should stop me just cos i have girl parts. i also don’t think i should get extra help, just cos of my girl parts.
first rant: i got really annoyed when at thanksgiving dinner my cousin-in-law’s father reached out and shook my dad’s hand saying we have a great home. wtf? it’s MY house. i bought it. my mom takes care of it. my dad doesn’t even live there. bah on patriarchal societies.
second rant: i really appreciate when people hold the door for me. i don’t demand that boys hold the door for me because i am a girl, i just think dudes should hold the door for me because i’m small and usually carrying a lot of stuff and it is polite. same way i should always hold the door for people with baby carriages and the elderly. if i was a tall, strong chick, i would def hold doors all the time for the little dudes. the rule: be polite and open doors, especially for people who look weaker than you!
third rant: in a relationship, the wife should not have to clean the house and cook dinner just cos she’s a chick. obvs. however, if the wife is home all day and the hubby is out working then yeah, she should cook dinner. in many of my coworkers ideal worlds, they are stay at home dads who play with the kids and cook dinner while their poor wifeys are forced to work in cube-land all day and earn the bacon. for boy/boy or girl/girl couples - same thing applies. obvs. my rule: whoever who spends more time at home each day should usually be resonsible for dinner. if you work a lot, then fuck it all and order in all the time.
tonight: i spent all day at home, either at my desk or on the couch. my roommate had to go into the city and work in her cube. i’m trying to be nice and make her dinner. and we’re not even married! see how that works. dinner will probs be gross because i’m a bad cook but i’m trying to follow my rules.
Chicken curry experiment was a success! Thanks darlin!
